Google Pumps $300M Into AI Company Linked To Infamous FTX Founder
With the recent partnership between Anthropic and Google Cloud, an emerging artificial intelligence (AI) startup, new horizons have been established. Sam Bankman-Fried, the controversial co-founder of FTX, which also obtained more than $500 million in funding, is linked to Anthropic.
Google Investment In AI Firm Anthropic
The artificial intelligence (AI) market is becoming more competitive following the introduction of Chatgpt and Microsoft’s investment in Openai. Anthropic, a new startup company, has entered the artificial intelligence sector and added to the portfolio.
Google Cloud reportedly contributed $300 million to Anthropic. This came after the startup received more than $500 million in capital from Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX.
The Financial Times reported on February 4th that Google Cloud has invested $300 million in Anthropic. Anthropic revealed its partnership with Google Cloud on the same day, however, it chose not to provide any specifics regarding the capital invested.
Anthropic’s CEO, Dario Amodei, claims that the company is collaborating with Google Cloud to support its goals of extending the reach of its AI systems to a larger audience. Anthropic’s goal is to build and deploy Claude, an AI assistant based on the firm’s research into creating safe and controllable AI. Anthropic has developed techniques like Constitutional AI to develop AI systems that are more dependable and understandable in order to accomplish this goal.
Anthropic Connection To FTX Co-Founder Sam Bankman-Fried
Sam Bankman-Fried, a former co-founder of FTX, provided investment to Anthropic in April 2022. The largest investor in the AI startup is Bankman-Alameda Fried’s Research, which contributed $500 million.
Bankman-stake Fried’s in the AI business may amount to as much as $1.1 billion, according to one of the FTX’s creditors. Others in the social media community are speculating about whether Bankman-ownership Fried’s will be used to pay off the huge debt that FTX has accrued as a result of recent issues. Anthropic has been identified by the FTX bankruptcy estate as a potential asset that could help creditors in their quest to recover funds.
On the other hand, John Ray, the current CEO of FTX, thinks it would be possible to save the exchange. Ray claims that stakeholders think the exchange has a chance to operate a viable business and that the platform might have a new start.
