Lamborghini Teams Up With VeVe For NFT Collection Launch
On Wednesday, Automobili Lamborghini announced a collaboration with VeVe, an NFT marketplace, to launch digital collectibles of its legendary sports cars. The upcoming NFTs will present the Huracán STO model with diverse rarity attributes and will be available on VeVe from February 19.
Upon acquisition, the collectors can exhibit their NFTs in the app’s virtual galleries, share them on their social feeds, and employ augmented reality (AR) to observe and experience driving the car on the streets in the physical world.
According to VeVe co-founder Dan Crothers in a statement to CoinDesk, he is enthusiastic about providing a new way for Lamborghini fans to experience their favorite sports car and aspires to encourage sports car enthusiasts to join Web3 with the collection. Crothers explained that owning or driving a Lamborghini is a dream for many people. Luxury Carmakers Embrace NFTs: Porsche, McLaren, and Alfa Romeo Enter the Digital Collectibles Market
Several luxury car manufacturers have recently delved into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Companies such as Porsche, McLaren, and Alfa Romeo have launched their first-ever NFT collections in the past year.
Last month, Porsche launched its inaugural non-fungible token (NFT) collection. The collection of NFTs by the German car manufacturer comprises 7,500 customizable tokenized vehicles of its renowned 911 sports car. Acquirers of these NFTs can modify the NFTs to their preferred performance and appearance.
McLaren Automotive partnered with metaverse infrastructure platform InfiniteWorld last year to create and mint NFTs of its luxury supercars. The U.K.-based automaker plans to develop a marketplace for selling NFTs that will grant owners access to exclusive experiences.
In the previous year, Alfa Romeo became the first car manufacturer to use non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to track and store maintenance records on the blockchain for its new Tonale SUV.
